Details
These statistics published on 15 July 2015 have superseded those published on 25 March 2015. Minor revisions were made due to changes as a result of further scheduled validation work and the result of a referendum for one authority鈥檚 Council Tax levels.
The key points from the latest release are:

the average Band D Council Tax set by local authorities in England for 2015 to 2016 will be 拢1,484, which is an increase of 拢16 or 1.1% on the 2014 to 2015 figure of 拢1,468

the average Band D Council Tax will be 拢1,298 in London (an increase of 拢2 when compared with 2014 to 2015), 拢1,451 (+拢17) in metropolitan areas, 拢1,518 (+拢16) in unitary authority areas and 拢1,547 (+拢21) in shire areas

the Council Tax requirement (excluding parish precepts) in 2015 to 2016 is 拢24.3 billion, or 拢0.75 billion higher when compared with 2014 to 2015.

parish precepts in 2015 to 2016 will total 拢409 million which is 拢20 million, or 5.2%, higher than in 2014 to 2015

in 2015 to 2016, 240 out of 421 (57%) authorities received the Council Tax freeze grant; the proportion of authorities varies by type of authority, from 16% of police authorities to 74% of London authorities

there will be an increase in the overall average Band D Council Tax for police and crime commissioners of 1.7%
