Details
These statistics published on 23 July 2014 have superseded those published on 26 March 2014. Minor revisions were made due to changes as a result of further validation work to clarify the treatment of parishes. The revisions affect the figures for 2013 to 2014 and 2014 to 2015 in table 6 but do not change any key points from the original release.
The key points from the latest release are:

the average Band D Council Tax set by local authorities in England for 2014 to 2015 will be 拢1,468, which is an increase of 拢12 or 0.9% on the 2013 to 2014 figure of 拢1,456

the average Band D Council Tax will be 拢1,296 in London (a decrease of 拢6 when compared with 2013 to 2014), 拢1,434 (+拢13) in metropolitan areas, 拢1,502 (+拢16) in unitary authority areas and 拢1,527 (+拢17) in shire areas

the Council Tax requirement (excluding parish precepts) in 2014 to 2015 is 拢23.6 billion, 拢0.57 billion more than 2013 to 2014

parish precepts in 2014 to 2015 will total 拢389 million which is 拢22 million higher than in 2013 to 2014.

in 2014 to 2015, 251 out of 421 (60%) authorities will receive the council tax freeze grant - this is 6 fewer than 2013 to 2014; this varies by type of authority, from 14% of police authorities to 68% of shire districts and 100% in London

there will be a decrease in the average Council Tax for the London area of 0.4%

there will be an increase in the overall average Band D Council Tax for police and crime commissioners of 1.2%; if the Mayor鈥檚 Office for Policing and Crime in London is excluded this figure rises to 1.7%
