Tax credits: allow someone to help you with your award (TC689)

Use form TC689 to authorise someone (an 'intermediary') to help you with your tax credits.

If you want someone to help you with Child Benefit use form CH105.

Use form TC689 if you want an intermediary, such as Citizens Advice, to help you with your tax credits.

Be aware that after an intermediary has been authorised they can make changes to your claims on your behalf, including changing your:

  • address
  • bank details

Do not use form TC689 to authorise a paid agent such as an accountant or other professional adviser to help you with your tax credits. You should use instead.

Use form 64-8 to authorise HMRC to communicate with an accountant, tax agent or adviser acting on your behalf.
