Details
This revised direction requires that the council continue to improve its children鈥檚 social care services.
It follows an which judged the overall effectiveness of those services as 鈥榬equires improvement to be good鈥�.
The Secretary of State has also given instructions to the council to ensure children鈥檚 social care functions are adequately maintained.
The Secretary of State intends to withdraw the Children鈥檚 Services Commissioner, Trevor Doughty, from 1 January 2020 (Trevor Doughty was appointed by the Secretary of State by direction on 8 March 2017), as the authority no longer needs a commissioner to oversee the intervention process.
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction on 17 September 2019.
