This revised direction recognises the establishment of Worcestershire Children First (WCF), who will be responsible for Worcestershire children鈥檚 services from 1 October 2019.
If follows an which judged the overall effectiveness of those services as 鈥榬equires improvement to be good鈥�. The Secretary of State will retain the Children鈥檚 Services Commissioner, Trevor Doughty, to ensure continued improvement and oversee the early stages of WCF鈥檚 operation. (Trevor Doughty was appointed by the Secretary of State by on 8 March 2017.)
The Secretary of State has also given instructions to the council to ensure children鈥檚 social care functions are adequately maintained.
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued in August 2018.
