You鈥檝e a right to ask for personal data DVLA holds about you. This is known as a right of subject access and is governed by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

You鈥檒l need to provide us with information to help prove your identity, so that we can find the information you鈥檙e asking for and process your request.

You can ask for information that DVLA holds about:

• your driver record
• your current vehicle
• a vehicle that used to be registered in your name

There is no charge for this information.

Information about your driver record

You鈥檒l need to include:

• your full name
• date of birth
• your current address and the address shown on your GB driving licence (if different)
• as much detail as possible, if you want us to retrieve medical information held about your fitness to drive

You can view your driving record for a list of your driving bans, penalty points and disqualifications.

If you鈥檙e living in Northern Ireland .

Information about your vehicle

You鈥檒l need to include:

• your full name
• your current address and the address on your V5C registration certificate (log book)
• the registration number of the vehicle you鈥檙e asking about
• what information you need, for example when the vehicle was first registered or the date you bought it

How to make a request

You can either:

• submit your request, using the form, and attach to an email to send to [email protected]
• print the form, fill it in, and send to Subject Access Request (SAR) Enquiries, DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BX
• email or post a letter, and include the information we ask for on the form
• apply by webchat or phone
