Details

The Department for Transport began a trial of longer semi-trailers for articulated goods vehicles in January 2012. The operational trial aims to see if using longer semi-trailers brings about anticipated environmental and economic benefits.

A total of 1,800 longer semi-trailers has been allocated to approximately 160 operators. It鈥檚 anticipated that the 10 year trial will save 3,000 tonnes of carbon emissions and save operators 拢33 million. This document presents the findings from the fourth year of the longer semi-trailer trial.
