拢10.95 million regeneration of Ruthin (Levelling Up Fund 2)
Denbighshire County Council was awarded 拢10.95 million from the Levelling Up Fund to support the development of 10 projects in Clwyd West.
There are 2 main strands to the Clwyd West Levelling Up programme.
Protecting Ruthin鈥檚 unique heritage & wellbeing
The first will focus on protecting Ruthin鈥檚 unique heritage and wellbeing through public realm enhancements and revitalising historical buildings and landmarks.
The funds will go towards improvements for:
- St Peter鈥檚 Square
- St Peter鈥檚 Church & Cloisters
- Ruthin Clock Tower
- Ruthin Gaol/46 Clwyd Street
- Nant Clwyd-y-Dre Townhouse
- Cae Ddol Park
These include:
- better pedestrian and traffic routes and controls
- accessibility enhancements
- repair and restoration of clock dials
- new entrance to the grade 2* Ruthin Gaol
- better connectivity between the park and the town centre
Protecting Ruthin鈥檚 rural communities and surrounding area
The second strand will focus on protecting Ruthin鈥檚 rural communities and wellbeing through improvements to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB sites of Loggerheads and Moel Famau) and new community hubs in the rural surrounding villages of Bryneglwys and Gwyddelwern.
Levelling Up funding will support:
- new toilet and refreshment facilities at Moel Famau
- extension to cycle routes at Moel Famau
- the conversion of a former school building into a new community centre in Bryneglwys
- better flood management and improvements to the existing building at Loggerheads
- a new energy-efficient community hub in Gwyddelwern
