Report a change of circumstances if you have a visa or expired BRP

Skip contents

You're in the UK and have an expired BRP

You must report any changes in your circumstances if you鈥檙e in the UK and have a biometric residence permit (BRP), even if it has expired.

How you do this depends on whether you have an eVisa or not.

If you have an eVisa

Sign in to your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to update any of these details online:

  • name, for example if you鈥檝e got married
  • address or phone number
  • nationality
  • facial appearance
  • date of birth, for example if it was wrong
  • gender

If you do not have an eVisa

You can no longer apply for a new聽BRP. You need to聽set up access to your eVisa.

An eVisa is an online record of your immigration status. You can use it to prove your status, instead of using your聽BRP.

You can then聽sign in to your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account聽to update your details online.

If you cannot access your eVisa and update your UKVI account

Contact UK Visas and Immigration to get help with your UKVI account or guidance about how to access your eVisa.

You can still update your address if you do not have an eVisa yet, either:

Changes you cannot report in your UKVI account

You must report any other changes to the details you gave in your BRP application, including if:

  • you get a criminal conviction
  • you separate from your partner
  • any of your children stop living permanently with you

Fill in the change of circumstances form and send it to the address on the form.
