Shared ownership homes: buying, improving and selling
Renting out all or part of your home (subletting)
You can normally rent out (sublet) a room in the home, but you must live there at the same time.
You cannot sublet your entire home unless either:
- you own a 100% share
- you have your landlord鈥檚 permission
Your landlord will usually only give permission in exceptional circumstances, for example if you鈥檙e a member of the armed forces and are serving away from the area where you live for a fixed period.
