Abstract

This briefing explores agricultural policy and its implementation in Malawi to understand the role聽local institutions play. The findings and recommendations聽presented here are based on research carried out as part of the SAIRLA-funded AFRINT IV research project 鈥� a project designed to analyse patterns of聽smallholder intensification in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia. The聽research sheds light on how agricultural policy is shaped and how聽it is implemented in Malawi and also assesses how agricultural聽policy and practice influence changes in society over time.
