Voices of National and Provincial Managers

Abstract

This chapter accompanies the other 鈥榲oices鈥� chapters in this Review. It focuses on mid-level managers in Departments of Health at provincial and national level, sixteen of whom were interviewed in depth about their day-to-day joys and frustrations in managing and transforming the South African health system. These interviews provide some insight into the challenges and barriers to effective health policy implementation.
