Unlocking potential: How social protection can improve disadvantaged children鈥檚 foundational cognitive skills

Presents new evidence from Young Lives longitudinal data showing how social protection can have a positive impact on children鈥檚 foundational cognitive skills.

Abstract

This policy brief examines how 2 different social protection programmes, in 2 very different country contexts, the Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP) in Ethiopia and JUNTOS programme in Peru, can mitigate the negative effects of early poverty and climate shocks to improve disadvantaged children鈥檚 foundational cognitive skills.

This is an output of the Young Lives at Work programme.
