Preparing for access at the country level: findings from Zambia and South Africa.

Abstract

This presentation describes highlights and recommendations from the initial Country Preparedness Assessments that were done to prepare for the introduction of vaginal microbicides for HIV prevention in Zambia and South Africa. They cover the areas of: regulatory approval, decision-making and financing; manufacture and importation; market strategies and distribution; community preparedness; and considerations for trials and research.
