Abstract

This article introduces a Peacebuilding special issue on rethinking security, peacebuilding and violence reduction in the light of Sustainable Development Goal 16 on 鈥榩romoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development鈥�. The special issue presents new analysis and case studies, which aim to challenge and refresh the established policy consensus around violence reduction and security.

This work is part of the 鈥楲arge development investment and local peacebuilding in rural Africa: building and sustaining peace at the margins鈥� supported by the Economic and Social Research Council and the UK Department for International Development
