Estado del Arte en Cambio Clim谩tico, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria en Guatemala [Review (State of the Art) of Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security in Guatemala]
Abstract
Guatemala es un pa铆s sensible a los efectos del cambio clim谩tico debido a sus caracter铆sticas sociales y ambientales; es por esto que el Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganader铆a y Alimentaci贸n (MAGA) en colaboraci贸n con el Programa de Investigaci贸n de CGIAR en Cambio Clim谩tico, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria (CCAFS) en Am茅rica Latina y con apoyo del Consejo Agropecuario Centroamericano (CAC) presentan el 鈥淓stado del Arte en Cambio Clim谩tico, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria en Guatemala鈥�, que incluye el marco gubernamental y actores involucrados en torno a esta tem谩tica. El documento evidencia que el pa铆s ha realizado diversos esfuerzos tanto en el 谩rea pol铆tica como de investigaci贸n para afrontar de manera adecuada los diferentes desaf铆os en su territorio, particularmente con una normativa marco sobre cambio clim谩tico y un incremento en la tendencia de investigaci贸n y desarrollo de proyectos hacia la adaptaci贸n y mitigaci贸n.
[Guatemala is a country sensitive to the effects of climate change due to it's social and environmental characteristics. For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), in collaboration with the CGIAR Research Programme on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) in Latin America, and with support from the Central American Farming Council (CAC), present a \"Review of Climate Change and Food Security in Guatemala\", that includes the goverment's policy framework and identifies relevant actors involved in policy formation around this theme. The document shows that the country has made varied efforts, as much in the area of politics as in research, to adequately address the different challenges in its territory, particularly, with a regulatory framework on climate change and an increase in research and development toward adaptation and mitigation.]
