Abstract

Presentation giving an overview of the conference. Although the numbers of children who never go to school are declining, an estimated 77 million children, 55% of whom are girls, are still denied any form of education (UNESCO, 2008). These children come overwhelmingly from the poorest communities in any country and from countries with long histories of conflict.
