Hazard
Via ferrata sets should absorb the impact of a fall while climbing whilst ensuring that the climber remains securely attached to the rope for the duration of the climbing activity. The affected products have a malfunction which means that the carabiners may open without the safety catch being pressed. The carabiners could open during use, leading to the climber detaching from the safety line and falling from a height.
The products do not meet the requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018.
Corrective action
The product has been recalled from end users. Owners of the affected products should stop using them immediately and visit to register their product for a full refund.
