DMBM680530 - Ordinary Cause: What happens when the initial writ is received in court

Once satisfied that the initial writ is in order the court will register the case, giving it a case number and also attach to the initial writ a warrant of citation (court form O1) (DMBM680090).
The sheriff clerk deputy will then sign the form granting the pursuer authority to serve a copy of the initial writ and warrant of citation on the defender(s).
These documents together with the “blue copy� of the form E200 will then be returned to you for service.
You should always quote the case number and the name(s) of the pursuer(s)/defender(s) whenever you enquire to the court about a case because all court records are filed in case number order.
