Apply for the Workplace Charging Scheme for state-funded education institutions
Grant to help state-funded schools and education institutions with the cost of buying and installing electric vehicle chargepoints.
Who can apply
This grant is for state-funded schools and other state-funded education institutions.
It is available in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. If your institution is in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, it is not eligible. Â
To apply for the grant you must have: �
- an existing or future need for charging an electric vehicle �
- designated off-street parking facilities that are clearly associated with your premises - the parking may be used by customers, guests, visitors, staff or others
- not have applied for a grant for the same chargepoint under the EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets or any other grant scheme  �
- the authority to apply for the Workplace Charging Scheme on behalf of your organisation �

What the grant covers
You can get 75% off the cost to buy and install chargepoints up to a maximum of:Â

£2,500 per socketÂ

40 sockets across all sites including any applications made previously via the Workplace Charging Scheme
You can make multiple claims up to your allocation of 40 sockets.
Academy trusts can apply for up to the maximum of 40 sockets for each institution within the academy trust.
Information you need to complete the form
You will need to tell us:
- information about the size of your institution � numbers of staff and pupils
- your institution or SEED reference number
- how many chargepoints you want to install
- how many sites you want to install them at � if your institution has more than one site
- whether you plan to open up the chargepoints for public use
Before you begin you should get an authorised installer to carry out a site survey to make sure the electrical capacity of the site can support the number of sockets you want to install.
Apply for the grant
Start your application now. You must fill in the whole form.
Successful applicants will be emailed a voucher code.
Until you receive a unique voucher code, there is no guarantee that you will receive the grant.

If your institution is registered with the�, you can find your institution reference number by searching your institution name on the site. �

Schools in Scotland are listed on�. You will need to search for the name of your school to find the SEED number.
What happens next
If your application is successful, you will be sent send you a voucher code within 5 working days. You must give your installer your voucher code, which is valid for 180 days. The installation must be completed within this time.
The installer will claim the grant on your behalf, and deduct it from your invoice.
You must use an authorised chargepoint installer to install eligible commercial chargepoints.�
Audit
OZEV will select some installations to be audited. We will use a third-party organisation, to check grant data, statements and records held by you and the installer. There may be an on-site visit that will require access to the chargepoint itself.
We reserve the right to seek further information or documentary evidence from relevant parties in support of any individual claim.
