Change or remove your tax agent's authorisation

Find out how to change and remove authorisation from an agent acting on your behalf.

You must not give your sign in credentials to your agent or anyone else.

If you鈥檙e an agent, you must not use your client鈥檚 credentials to sign into any account. Find out how to register and get authorised as a tax agent to deal with HMRC.

If you鈥檙e a registered tax agent, you can change or remove your authorisations.

If a tax agent acts on your behalf, you can remove their authorisation if you no longer want them to manage your tax affairs.

You may want to remove a tax agent鈥檚 authorisation if:

  • you change tax agents
  • your current tax agent retires or has stopped operating
  • you don鈥檛 need a tax agent to represent you any more

If you want to change the tax agent you have authorised, you must submit a new authorisation request. Any new authority received will replace any existing authority.
