Main points

  • all motor vehicle traffic was 1.0% lower in the third quarter of 2012 than in the third quarter of 2011 at 75.0 billion vehicle miles
  • light goods vehicle traffic was the only vehicle type to experience growth in traffic volumes in the third quarter of 2012 compared with the same period in 2011, increasing by 2.0% - traffic for all other vehicles types fell between these 2 quarters
  • traffic grew on motorways and rural 鈥楢鈥� roads in the third quarter of 2012 compared with the third quarter of 2011 but fell on all other road types
