Local tobacco control profiles for England: March 2021 update

An overview of the extent of tobacco use, tobacco related harm and the measures being taken to reduce this harm at a local level in England.

Details

The data update for March 2021 has been published by Public Health England (PHE).

These profiles have been designed to help local government and health services to assess the effect of tobacco use on their local populations. The data are presented in an interactive tool that allows users to view them in a user-friendly format.

This update contains:

  • smoking prevalence calculated from the GP Patient Survey including in adults with a long-term mental health condition
  • smoking prevalence calculated from the Quality and Outcomes Framework
  • smoking prevalence in adults (18+) admitted to treatment for substance misuse (NDTMS)
  • emergency hospital admissions for COPD
  • five indicators in the smoking quitters domain
