The latest national statistics on the provisional outturn figures of local authority capital expenditure and receipts in the financial year April 2010 to March 2011 and forecast figures for April 2011 to March 2012 was released on 28 June 2011 under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
The latest statistical release includes data from 2006 to 2007 to 2011 to 2012.
The main points are:
- capital expenditure by local authorities in England rose to 拢24.5 billion in 2010 to 2011, a year-on-year increase of nearly 15%, due mainly to the Greater London Authority鈥檚 (GLA) expenditure via Transport for London (TfL), and is forecast to fall to 拢21.3 billion in 2011 to 2012, a year-on-year fall of 13%
- capital receipts were virtually unchanged in 2010 to 2011 at 拢1.5 billion but are forecast to rise to 拢1.7 billion in 2011 to 2012
- the largest percentage increase in capital expenditure in 2010 to 2011 is in transport (55%); this increase primarily relates to the GLA鈥檚 contribution to expenditure via TfL
