Thank you, Mr President.

Se帽ora Vali帽as, let me thank you for your update on the work of the International Independent Fact-Finding Mission. We encourage Venezuela to give effect to the previous recommendations made by the Mission.

Admiramos la valent铆a de quienes contin煤an contribuyendo con la investigaci贸n de la Misi贸n. El r茅gimen de sigue negando al pueblo venezolano sus derechos fundamentales.

We are deeply concerned by the continued persecution of individuals鈥痑nd organisations conducting human rights work. This鈥痬ust stop. We call for the release of the Director of the NGO FundaRedes who has been arbitrarily detained since July 2021, as mentioned by Sra Vali帽as.

We welcome the Mission鈥檚 efforts to gather evidence of serious human rights violations. We support the work of the Mission and urges members of this Council to support the renewal of its mandate in September.

Has the Mission undertaken an investigation into alleged human rights abuses taking place in the Arco Minero Orinoco, and how does it evaluate what is happening there?

Thank you.
