This statement at the 104th World Bank Development Committee meeting was from the Foreign Secretary, as UK Governor to the World Bank Group alongside UK Alternate Governor, the Chancellor of the Exchequer. They encouraged greater global cooperation to support strong, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth for countries to recover from the COVID-19 crisis.

The Foreign Secretary called for further action to support developing countries in:

  • building back better
  • women鈥檚 empowerment and girls鈥� education
  • economic development and trade
  • delivering COVID-19 vaccines, treatments and tests
  • action on climate ahead of COP26
  • building preparedness for future crises
