Welcome and opening remarks
Minister West introduced herself and welcomed all participants. She reflected on the continuing importance of soft power and the UK鈥檚 convening role.
Update since the first meeting
Minister Bryant stressed the importance of the whole of the UK to ongoing soft power work. He updated the Council on early thinking on innovative financing and the GREAT Review.
Working group updates
The Council heard updates from co-chairs of its 4 Working Groups: the US, Europe, Hinge Markets and Strategic Events Calendar.
General discussion and other updates
The Council discussed 2 papers on University Graduations and a Rule of Law / Democracy prize. The Council agreed to continue developing a UK Soft Power Strategy.
The meeting was followed by a Wales and Soft Power Roundtable with representatives from Welsh sports and creative industries sectors, at the Wales Millennium Centre.
