Details

These letters set out decisions made by the Secretary of State for Transport to permit pre-1999 vehicles to continue in operation for a time-limited period during 2021 (subject to compliance with conditions specified). Detail of the levels of non-compliance are set out in the assessment spreadsheet.

This follows assessment of a unit and consultation with the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC), the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) and Transport Focus.

  1. 2021 dispensation letters for class 153 vehicles released.

  2. Following the transfer of this franchise into public ownership, changed name to Transport for Wales Rail Limited and added transfer of dispensations letter.

  3. Added dispensation letters for Transport for Wales Angel Class 153, PB Class 153 and Class 143s. Also added Porterbrook Class 153 compliance assessment.

  4. Replaced dispensation letters for Transport for Wales Class 142 and 143 with new letters dated 17 July 2020.
