The Watercress Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence number 32/072 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of Chalk at Manor Farm at Old Arlesford, Hampshire at the following National Grid References: SU 58589 33892, SU 58609 33891, SU 58680 33902, SU 58510 33701, SU 58520 33700 SU 58579 33681 and SU 58570 33611
The variation applied for is to renew the time limited quantities of 16,364.5 cubic metres per day, 5,454,815 cubic metres per year for watercress growing and 1.5 cubic metres per day, 500 cubic metres per year for distilling for the purpose of alcoholic beverage production between 01 April and 31 March inclusive.
The abstraction lies within the Test and Itchen Abstraction Licensing Strategy area.
