Details

On 12 June 2020, ABP Southampton made a formal application to the Marine Management Organisation (鈥淢MO鈥) under Section 14 of the Harbours Act 1964 for a Harbour Revision Order (鈥淗RO鈥).

The Port of Southampton Harbour Revision Order (鈥渢he Order鈥) provides the port authority with modern powers of general and special direction and makes minor amendments to local legislation.

The Order also requires the port authority to make available an illustrative map showing the port limits.

The Order does not authorise the construction or alteration of a project or confer development consent. Accordingly, no environmental statement was supplied.

Full details of these powers can be viewed in the Order and the rationale behind the powers can be viewed in the accompanying statement in support.

The statutory 42-day public consultation on the HRO ran from 26 April 2021 until 6 June 2021.

The MMO approved the making of the Order on 21 February 2025, details of the decision-making process can be viewed in the Harbour Revision Order and decision report attached to this page. The Order will be laid before parliament on 27 February 2025 and will come into force on 20 March 2025.
