Films (Exhibition Periods) Order 1996

This order prevents film distributors from requiring exhibitors to show films for more than a minimum period.

Details

This order was made under the monopoly provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973. It prevents film distributors from requiring exhibitors to show films for a period longer than:

  • 2 weeks - in the case of exhibitions that start within 6 weeks of a films general release day
  • 1 week - in any other case
