Tell HMRC about who is dealing with the estate when someone dies
Give details about a person or agent who will deal with the money, possessions, and property when someone dies using form P1000.

You can use this HMRC form to tell us:
- you鈥檙e the personal representative of the estate
- you want someone else to act for you, like a solicitor or accountant
A personal representative is responsible for finalising the affairs of someone who has died. This role can be:
- an executor 鈥� named in the will to deal with the estate
- an administrator (executor dative in Scotland) 鈥� appointed by the courts to administer the estate, usually if there鈥檚 no will
To fill in this form, you鈥檒l need to print and sign it and include the National Insurance number of the person who has died.
If they did not have a National Insurance number, you鈥檒l need to contact us by calling the聽Bereavement helpline.
