During week 13, most acute respiratory infection syndromic indicators decreased. Gastroenteritis indicators (including diarrhoea and vomiting) largely decreased across most systems, including in the 1 to 14 years age group. GP in-hours consultation rates for allergic rhinitis increased in line with seasonal expectations.

In week 13 the total numbers of daily NHS 111 triaged calls and online assessments decreased. NHS 111 triaged calls and online assessments for diarrhoea remain stable, though at levels above those expected for the time of year.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 13, GP in-hours consultation rates for influenza-like illness continued to decrease and remained similar to expected levels. Consultation rates for acute presenting asthma increased nationally, though remain similar to baseline levels. Vomiting consultation rates increased, with elevated rates in children aged 1 to 4 years noted at the start of the week in particular. Consultation rates for allergic rhinitis increased in line with the seasonal expectation, with increases in most age groups and regions, notably in London.

GP out-of-hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 13, GP out-of-hours contacts for acute pharyngitis increased slightly. All other respiratory indicators decreased, or remained stable. Contacts for vomiting decreased overall, including decreases in children aged 1 to 14 years.

Emergency department syndromic surveillance system

During week 13, influenza-like illness emergency department (ED) attendances continued to decrease nationally but remained above seasonally expected levels. ED attendances for gastroenteritis decreased overall, including in children aged 1 to 14 years.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

During week 13, ambulance calls for difficulty breathing and headache decreased, but remain at or below expected levels.
