Syndromic surveillance summary
Reporting week 33: 12 August to 18 August.
During week 33, 鈥榠mpact of heat鈥� syndromic indicators decreased with daily activity returning to expected levels. ED and GP in-hours COVID-19-like indicators continued to decrease.
Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system
During week 33, daily NHS 111 calls and assessments for 鈥榟eat exposure or sunburn鈥� returned to expected levels. There was an increase in calls and assessments for eye problems over the weekend 17 to 18 August however overall activity remains in line with seasonally expected levels.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system
During week 33, COVID-19-like consultations continued to decrease. 鈥楬eat or sunstroke鈥� consultations decreased but there was an increase in consultations for insect bites although activity remained similar to baseline levels.

GP out-of-hours syndromic surveillance system
During week 33, GP out-of-hours daily contacts for 鈥榟eat or sunstroke鈥� decreased and returned to expected levels. Daily contacts for vomiting increased particularly in people aged 15 years and over.

Emergency department syndromic surveillance system
During week 33, ED attendances for 鈥榟eat or sunstroke鈥� decreased with daily attendances returning to expected levels. There were further decreases in COVID-19-like ED attendances during week 33.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system
During week 33, daily ambulance calls for 鈥榠mpact of heat or cold鈥� decreased and returned to expected levels following a peak on Monday 12 August coinciding with a Yellow Heat-Health Alert.
