Street Works Act (SWA) codes are allocated to statutory undertakers and others with a licence to carry out streetworks. An organisation cannot conduct streetworks without being allocated an SWA code.
GeoPlace is responsible for the administration, maintenance, allocation and hosting of the on behalf of the DfT.
Any statutory undertaker regulated by OFCOM, OFGEM or OFWAT requiring an SWA code should .

GeoPlace is also responsible for the management and administration of the infrastructure which underpins the streetworks notification process.
