This letter is Patrick McLoughlin鈥檚, the Secretary of State for Transport鈥檚, response to Sir Peter Hendy鈥檚 re-plan report. It explains that the Transport Secretary accepts the report鈥檚 recommendations, subject to a short period of consultation with the rail industry.

Background to Sir Peter Hendy鈥檚 re-plan report

The Transport Secretary asked Sir Peter Hendy to develop proposals for how the rail upgrade programme could be put on a realistic and sustainable footing. Sir Peter Hendy鈥檚 re-plan report was published on Network Rail鈥檚 website on 25 November 2015 as part of the government鈥檚 Spending Review announcements.
