About the partnership
See Inside Manufacturing (SIM) is a partnership between Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and industry. It aims to change young people鈥檚 perception of manufacturing.

You can tailor your own event based on:
- products and operations
- facilities set up
- staff abilities and interests
- surrounding community engagement
- interests of the school group visiting
You could include:
- presentation on group arrival
- site tour
- discussions with staff and apprentices
- hands-on activity
- question and answer session
Young people like to see actual production, hands on activity and the opportunity to talk with company apprentices about their roles, company career opportunities and wider prospects in manufacturing. We would recommend a minimum of about 3 hours for a visit.

Evaluation
BIS is keen to improve the programme. We have developed 3 simple online surveys that will help us understand the impacts of the programme and measure the numbers attending.
These surveys can be completed by students, teachers and the host business.
