This is the ninth paper in the Scotland Analysis series and sets out how people and businesses in Scotland are served by the UK鈥檚 foreign policy, its diplomatic network and international relationships. It finds that an independent Scotland would face tough negotiations on the terms of its EU membership and that Scottish taxpayers are likely to pay more into the EU budget than they get back. The paper discusses the potential consequences for Scotland鈥檚 global reach and influence, if it were no longer part of the UK.
