This document provides an update on the Competition and Markets Authority鈥檚 monitoring of road fuel prices, retail spreads and margins. It includes:

• average pump prices and their components, including retail spread, from the end of October 2024 to the end of February 2025

• fuel margins for the supermarket and other fuel retailers, from January to December 2024

This is the first quarterly update report published under our new statutory monitoring function. Our powers to fulfil this function were conferred in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, and commenced in January 2025.

Before commencement, we published guidance on how we鈥檒l exercise our information-gathering powers when we monitor competition in connection with road fuel in the UK. Information we gather from retailers using our new powers will inform our next monitoring report, which we expect to publish in June. This quarterly report therefore relies on data that fuel retailers have provided voluntarily.
