This direction has now closed. A revised direction issued on 22 July 2019 by the Department for Education (DfE) replaces it.
This revised direction acknowledges the transfer of children鈥檚 social care services to the Birmingham children鈥檚 trust.
It requires Birmingham city council to co-operate with the Secretary of State鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Services Commissioner, and to engage with the trust and partners in a way that supports improvement.
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in November 2016.
