In line with Better Regulation principles, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) 鈥� including the Health and Safety Executive 鈥� provides information on its plans to review legislation which affect businesses.

The report covers 2 types of reviews:

  • statutory reviews 鈥� those that a department commits to doing, in primary or secondary legislation, including reviews linked to sunset clauses* 鈥� at August 2013, DWP was estimated to have 10 such reviews

  • non-statutory reviews 鈥� are not committed to in law, but a department has indicated it will do, in an Impact Assessment

*A sunset clause is a provision in a Bill that gives it an 鈥榚xpiry date鈥� once it is passed into law. 鈥楽unset clauses鈥� are included in legislation when Parliament should have the chance to decide on its merits again after a fixed period.
