The Press Standards Board of Finance Limited (PressBoF) submitted to the Privy Council Office a petition for the grant of a Royal Charter.

On 10 July 2013, Her Majesty referred the Petition for a Royal Charter to a Committee of the Privy Council for consideration and report.

The Committee has examined the Petition and considers that it is not in line with government policy on the self-regulation of the press, based on the .

As such, the Committee is unable to recommend the Petition be granted. This letter from the Committee to the Privy Council sets out the reasons for that decision.
