Guide to customs clearance in Portugal

2. Packages from non-EU countries

2.1 Step 1: Email/letter or SMS

Email/letter or SMS from post office (CTT) in Portugal. Package withheld, pending completion of customs clearance procedures: 鈥楧esalfandegamento鈥�

2.2 Step 2: Go to

Click on 鈥業dioma鈥� at the bottom of the page to change the language to English. Choose 鈥楥ustoms clearance鈥� from the menu/tools (site reverts to Portuguese).

2.3 Step 3: Register online

Click 鈥榬egiste-se aqui鈥�, go to your email and activate your account. Log in and click 鈥楨N鈥� for English, then choose 鈥楽tart鈥�. Click 鈥楢dd New Object鈥�, and on 鈥楾racking Number insert 鈥楴潞 do objeto鈥� which is in your email/letter/SMS.

2.4 Step 4: Origin/value of goods

Complete the missing information. If necessary, correct 鈥淣ature of Shipment鈥�: 鈥渃omercial鈥� if it is a purchase; 鈥渘茫o comercial鈥�=鈥漮ferta鈥� if it is a gift sent by relatives or friends. Gifts under 鈧�45 are tax-free.

2.5 Step 5: Receive your parcel

You can check the status of your parcel on the CTT website and receive alerts by email or SMS. If you have any questions, contact the helpline on: (+351) 21 047 16 16
