The authors of this report were contracted as independent experts to assess the 10 projects funded. The Modern Slavery Innovation Fund (Phase 1) accounted for 拢5.7 million and ran from March 2017 to March 2019.
Of the 10 projects reviewed, 8 projects achieved straight As for progress towards outcomes and 2 projects scored a mixture of grades.
The reviewers note that:
The MSIF was genuinely an innovation fund, supporting original thinking on modern slavery. Allowing for a more experimental 鈥榮tart-up phase鈥 (as Phase 1 of the MSIF could be considered) has the potential to generate important insights into new methodologies and allow newer entrants to a thematic area an opportunity to demonstrate their 鈥榲alue add鈥 鈥 whether on modern slavery or other issues.
