On 18 June 2013, Edward Timpson, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families, wrote a letter to The Association of Directors of Children鈥檚 Services, the Local Government Association and the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives, outlining his response to local government鈥檚 feedback on proposals for improving adopter recruitment, assessment and approval.

On 8 August 2013 the department announced that 拢16 million will be given to adoption agencies to attract more adopters.
