HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) commissioned research agency Kantar UK to explore the cryptoasset market in the UK. The research sought to establish:
- the prevalence of owning cryptoassets
- the types and amounts held
- the platforms individuals use to buy cryptoassets
The research took a quantitative approach consisting of a screening stage to identify current and former cryptoasset owners and a full survey with those screened in.
The research consisted of a survey with a representative sample of 5,916 UK adults, including 713 cryptoasset owners. The fieldwork was conducted with individuals from the research agency鈥檚 respondent panel, which is a randomly selected sample of the UK public. This took place between February 2021 and June 2021.
