The Secretary of State for Education launched the 鈥業ndependent review of teachers鈥 standards鈥, chaired by Sally Coates, in March 2011.

The review brought together leading teachers, headteachers and other experts to review the framework of professional standards for teachers.

These reports present their findings and recommendations.

The first report looks at the standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the core professional standards.

The second report looks at the upper tiers of the standards framework (鈥榩ost-threshold鈥, 鈥榚xcellent teacher鈥 and 鈥榓dvanced skills teacher鈥).
