The hydrogen investor roadmap showcases the UK鈥檚 hydrogen offer and the scale of our ambition for the role of the hydrogen economy in meeting net zero.

It spotlights the exciting investment opportunities across the hydrogen value chain 鈥 from production, through transmission and storage to the range of potential end uses, including power, transport and heating.

It includes details of recent policy announcements which together represent the next substantial step forward in developing a thriving UK hydrogen economy:

The roadmap also reflects the significant increase in the UK鈥檚 hydrogen ambition. We are doubling our ambition to up to 10GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030, with the intention that at least half of this will be from electrolytic hydrogen. Increasing our production ambition could mobilise over 拢9 billion of private investment (an increase of 拢5 billion relative to 5GW ambition) and support over 12,000 jobs by 2030, ensuring that we have reliable, secure energy while maintaining progress towards our legally binding targets under the Climate Change Act.

It is part of a series of roadmaps to be published over the course of 2022 for each sector of the Prime Minister鈥檚 Ten Point Plan, demonstrating how the UK is delivering on its green commitments.
