Details

The industry led review was announced by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food in January 2013 and is led by David Fursdon, Chair of South West Rural Farming Network.

The review group engaged with a number of organisations and individuals. This report sets out the early conclusions of the review group and makes recommendations in the following themes:

  • improving education and skills development
  • routes into the industry
  • ensuring affordable housing for farmers in rural areas
  • succession and exit from the industry
  • ways to access finance
  • changes to the legislative framework to help progression through the sector

The review group will discuss their findings with the Minister of State and work with organisations in the farming industry to take forward the recommendations.
