The plan aims to help ensure that the European Social Fund (ESF) 2007 to 2013 programme:
- complies with European Union (EU) regulatory requirements on sustainable development and the environment
- meets its commitments to promote sustainable development policies and plans
It also shows how the 2007 to 2013 ESF programme is 鈥榤ainstreaming鈥� sustainable development (taking it into account at all stages of the ESF programme). The 鈥榤ainstreaming鈥� approach aims to:
- minimise negative impacts on the environment by ESF providers
- support a number of specialist environmental projects to improve skills and job prospects
